Port of Gävle and terminal operator Yilport will participate in the Transport Logsitic fair in Munich, 4-7 june.
Every year, Swedish companies export and import more than 700 million tons of goods. 15 million tons of these are produced within 150 km of Gävle.
Port of Gävle is Sweden’s third largest container port and the largest on the east coast. The port has experienced significant growth for an extended period of time and is approaching 300,000 TEU (One TEU is equal to a 20 foot container).
In order to achieve continued growth, the Port of Gävle and terminal operator Yilport Gävle are now doubling the container capacity. In a joint venture worth SEK 700 million, a second dock is being built with cranes and depth to accommodate more and larger container vessels. The expanded container port will be able to handle four ships simultaneously.
Upon completion of the new container terminal, Port of Gävle will have the capacity to handle port calls from larger vessels with an annual volume of up to 600,000 TEU. Yilport and its subsidiaries hold a concession agreement with municipality-owned port authority to operate and develop the port until 2046 with a 10- year extension option.
