With the aim of reducing CO2 emissions, Port of Gävle together with Gävle Energi has completed six brand new charging stations for electric trucks directly adjacent to the main gate.
Up to 500 vehicles enter the Port of Gävle every day, most of them powered by fossil fuels. With this investment, we hope it will make it easier for trucking companies to renew their vehicle fleet and invest in electric vehicles in the future.
As the Port of Gävle is the largest logistics hub in Central Sweden, where shipping, rail and road meet, our goal is for this to have a great effect and contribute to the continued development of growing sustainably.
It is also an important step to help make heavy transport free from fossil fuels. The transport industry accounts for up to 30 percent of Sweden’s total CO2 emissions. This project could lead to a reduction of up to 4,000 tonnes of CO2 in the atmosphere.
