Gävle Hamn AB has signed a new 25-year agreement with VAROPreem Sverige. The agreement provides long-term stability and predictability for both parties, creating a strong foundation for continued operations and development at the Port of Gävle.
The agreement covers land for terminal operations and establishes the framework for VAROPreem’s long-term use of the port’s land, facilities and infrastructure. It builds on a longstanding partnership dating back to the early 1960s.
“This long-term agreement gives us a clear and stable foundation for continued cooperation and development. VAROPreem Sverige is an important operator at the Port of Gävle, and we look forward to continuing to develop together,” says Fredrik Svanbom, CEO of Gävle Hamn AB.
A strategic location for continued development
The Gävle terminal is an important part of VAROPreem’s Swedish terminal network. Its location in a region with a strong industrial base, combined with access to port and rail infrastructure, enables reliable and efficient distribution across a wide geographical area.
The terminal serves customers in the Gävle and Dalarna regions and can also reach areas further north as well as parts of the Stockholm region. Its location and infrastructure also create opportunities for future development related to renewable fuels.
“This agreement gives us the long-term perspective we need to continue developing our operations in Gävle. The terminal has been an important part of our supply chain for many years. Its strategic location, infrastructure and connection to the port mean it will remain important as the energy system evolves,” says Sofia Sundström, VP Terminals at VAROPreem.
