Containerships has very recently established a new short sea line. As Port authority we are very happy to see the development of new container lines that will promote shipping within Europe and then especially short sea lines. As Port authority we work to enable such important development here in the port as well as the assignments handed to us by the national politicians. One important part of that is to follow up on the national freight transport strategy.
In the national freight transport strategy we can read that to be able to reach the sustainability goals we need to work for transfer of goods from land to railway and sea. By the establishment of new lines new capacity is provided and further enables the mission given to us through the strategy.
Apart from the national responsibility, we also have regional responsibility. Port of Gävle is a Logistic hub of the east coast and the region. By the opening of new lines, services and efficiency to regional as well as national customers is improved.
