The area of the port of Gävle and its key role in the region
Port of Gävle plays a crucial role as one of Sweden’s largest ports, both from an economic perspective and as a major employer. About 500 people go to work at the Port of Gävle every day, such as crane operators, terminal and warehouse workers and officials. Everyone plays a part in handling the imports and exports that reach you and me via goods or financing. In addition, nearly 8,000 jobs are generated – everything from drivers, train engineers and crew members who pass through the port every day, to craftsmen and consultants. If we look at how Port of Gävle affects the city, the region and the country in general, the numbers are even larger.
