Working at the port of Gävle

Working at the port

Sweden is reliant on maritime transport. A huge 90 per cent of the 200 million tonnes of freight that is imported and exported is transported by ship. Working in one of Sweden’s largest ports is a special experience. That’s partly because we are an important connection out to the whole world, and partly because maritime transport is so important to business and its competitiveness.

Sweden’s best port

Our vision is to be perceived as Sweden’s best port. This vision is more than just words. We have many factors helping us on our way:

The Port of Gävle - Sweden’s best port

Core values

Together we work to provide efficient, sustainable infrastructure for terminal operators, shipping companies and freight owners in the port. Our core values are happiness, collaboration, respect and responsibility.  These values guide how we treat each other, our partners and our customers, and also how we make decisions and achieve our goals.
Happiness:
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we are helpful and we show appreciation. We spread positive energy to our colleagues, customers and partners. We are proud of our heritage and we are passionate about the continued development of the port and the Gävleborg region.
Respect:
We show respect for each other and make the most of the collective skills of the company.
Collaboration

Collaboration is incredibly important if we are to succeed in becoming Sweden’s best port. We provide knowledge in our areas of responsibility and ensure our respective actions contribute to developing the port. We support each other and strive for a good, collaborative climate – always with the customer front and centre.

Responsibility:
We take responsibility for the issues concerning our business, customers and partners. We work on safety matters thoroughly and continuously to identify and mitigate risks. Our responsibility encompasses environmental issues and we consider ourselves an important partner in the environmental efforts of both the Gävleborg region and Sweden.
Additionally, we always strive to be innovative, open to new ideas and dare to challenge old truths. Our aim is to always make the port safer, more effective and with as low an environmental burden as possible.
